Biography

Ellen McDonald doesn’t know a world without color. BRIGHT color! She’s always been an artist at heart, but didn’t land on her artistic passion until she combined her studio art degree with her love of bringing a needlepoint canvas to life with decorative stitches. Her greatest gift is sharing her knowledge (over 20 years needlepointing) of the craft with new and seasoned stitchers. She has had many teachers in her career and loves learning anything new in the needlepoint world, then sharing it! She likes to approach a canvas from a realistic perspective; choosing a stitch that would best represent elements in the piece like water (any kind of Bargello), grass (leaf or double woven stitch)or sky (Diagonal Triple Parisian)for example. 

The best advice she could ever give would be to choose a piece that speaks to you and stitch what you love. All the stuff in between is the fun part!
